Nest has officially announced the availability of its new security camera designed for room – Nest Cam IQ. This new Nest cam is now available for pre-order via Amazon store priced at $299.
The Nest Cam IQ is small and not bulky and made of a polycarbonate shell combined with soft edges that ensure a good level of lightness. There is also a patented hinge that allows you to orientate the lens anyway you want it. The Nest Cam IQ camera also supports the WiFi 802.11ac along with Alexa and Google Home integrations.
The Nest security camera comes equipped with a 1/2.5-inch, 8-megapixel color sensor which also capable of recording video up to 4K resolution, HDR mode and with a field of view of 130 degrees, but the user will never actually see 4K footage from the camera, as it records and streams at a maximum resolution of 1080p.
The Nest Cam IQ features Supersight functionality, which uses the feed to digitally zoom in on areas where motion is detected. Using the Nest app, you’ll see a 4x zoomed, 1080p close-up of them entering, with a picture-in-picture of the main feed in the corner. Supersight feature will also track the thief as he moves across the camera’s field of view.
Another interesting feature called Facial recognition which is backed by Google’s “best-in-class” FaceNet technology, so this is a first home security camera with this functionality. The Cam IQ packs a two 940nm infrared LEDs for better night vision with no red lights. There is a total of 3 microphones and speaker with loud volume. A user can also communicate with it and new software that’ll make the camera function like a persistent speakerphone.
