Line 6 HX Stomp XL: Available now!

The Line 6 HX Stomp XL is here! The newest member of the Helix family was originally leaked at NAMM 2021 and is now officially available. Above all, it has more footswitches and changed positions of the inputs and outputs.

The HX Stomp was first released in 2018 and is considered the Swiss Army Knife among guitar modelers. Due to its compact dimensions, it held a triumphant advance on the pedalboards of the world. There was a little complaint: too few footswitches and no XLR connection. At least one of the wishes has now been addressed.

The HX Stomp XL has 8 footswitches! Six of them can be freely assigned in stomp mode, which is an asset. Owners of the compact Stomp HX don’t need to get nervous right away. Because of the operation, the display and the computing power have remained the same.

HX Stomp XL comes loaded with more than 300 amps, cabs, and effects, including world-class polyphonic pitch-shifting effects. The 128 factory presets include vintage and modern sounds, and there are also presets created specifically for bass players, as well as individual bass amp and cab models.

But a lot has happened on the back. All inputs and outputs as well as USB and MIDI connections have remained unchanged in their entirety. But now, they are all practically gathered at the front. Interestingly, the volume control has also been relegated from the top to the back. Above all, because it is sunk slightly into the housing so that it cannot be accidentally adjusted.

However, one thing we are missing is the XLR output. It’s a shame, but this is how Line6 ensures that there is still a reason to buy the more expensive models. What do you think about the XL? Is it a welcome addition to the product line, or is the cow being milked too much?
