Insta360 EVO Foldable Camera to capture 360° and 3D 180° Videos and Photos: Price, Availability

Insta360 introduced its first Insta360 EVO Foldable camera, which is also capable of taking photos and videos both in 360° and in 180° 3D mode. The peculiarity of EVO lies in the possibility of opening and closing the camera so that the two photographic sensors can be placed side by side – so as to have the stereoscopic vision at 180° – or positioned one behind the other for obtaining a 360° field of view.

The camera comes in a very compact format reminiscent of action cams and is equipped with some interesting features, such as the FlowState stabilization system and the ability to send photos and videos to VR headsets such as Oculus GO to fully appreciate the 3D or 360° content.

The Insta360 EVO foldable camera is equipped with f/2.2 aperture optics and is able to take shots at 18MP in 6080 x 3040 pixel format, while videos can be shot at 5760 x 2880 pixels @ 30fps, 3840 x 1920 pixels @ 30/50fps and at 3008 x 1504 pixels @ 100fps.

It also packs a 1200mAh battery that guarantees up to 65 minutes of battery life, WiFi 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.0 LE connectivity and microSD slot up to 128GB. Photos and videos can also be made in HDR format and it is possible to export the contents for use with the Adobe Premiere Pro suite. There are also many shooting modes that allow you to create very suggestive slow motion or time shift effects.

Among the available accessories it is possible to buy the Pop HoloFrame cover that can be applied to your smartphone in order to view 3D movies without the aid of the goggles in the package, since it applies a parallax barrier to the display of your device, a as it happens with the 3DS display or other passive 3D tools.

At the moment the Insta360 EVO is compatible with Apple smartphones and tablets equipped with Apple A9 or higher SoC, while support for Android devices will come in the future and will start from Samsung’s latest flagship series. The Insta360 EVO price has been set at $419.99 and it is already up for pre-orders via Bhphotovideo.com.
