ICY DOCK launches ToughArmor MB839SP-B Removable storage drive bay for PCIe slots

The Icy Dock assortment replenished the new ToughArmor MB839SP-B removable storage drive bay in the form of an expansion card with a PCIe interface. The bay supports hot-swappable drives using the included tray. The hot-plug connector is designed for 10,000 insertion / removal cycles.

The compartment is designed for one HDD or SSD size 2.5 inches up to 9.5 mm thick, equipped with a SATA interface. The device may come in handy in a situation when you need to connect a drive, but there is no free SATA port or there is no space for a regular hot-swappable tray.

The PCIe slot is used both for data exchange and for powering the drive, so there are no other connections. Although the ToughArmor MB839SP-B removable storage drive bay uses only one PCIe 2.0 line, it is also possible to install in a PCIe x4, x8, and x16 slot.

The product body is made of metal. An anti-vibration mechanism built into the chassis reduces noise and protects against environmental damage. The system can include several of these compartments. They are thin enough to fit in adjacent slots.

ToughArmor MB839SP-B costs $64.99 and is already available to buy on Amazon.com.
