Last July, Dzofilm first caught the attention of cinematographers with the release of two affordable Pictor Cine zoom lenses. These new lenses were available with PL and EF mounts. These are the Pictor 20-55mm and 50-125mm T2.9 cinema lenses. However, these zooms only covered Super35 sensors.

The company is now expanding the Vespid series with ultra-wide-angle optics – the Dzofilm Vespid 16mm T2.8 cine lens. The Vespid range includes the following lenses: 25mm T2.1, 35mm T2.1, 50mm T2.1, 75mm T2.1, 90mm T2.8 Macro, 100mm T2.1, 125mm T2.1.

All Vespid lenses, including the new 16mm, cover a 46.5mm image circle. With the original mount or Dzofilm Octopus adapters, the entire lens series can be adapted to PL, EF, and LPL mounts as well as E-mount, L-mount, RF-mount, and X-mount mirrorless mounts.

The new Vespid 16mm T2.8 Cine Prime has good control over distortion and chromatic aberration and produces a beautiful, uniform blurred background and pleasing bokeh, according to the manufacturer.

In addition, the lens also has minimal focus breathing. The new cine lens weighs approximately 930 grams and has a filter front diameter of 80mm, which is the same as other Vespid fixed focal length lenses.
