With its newly introduced AVR-X1700H, Denon proves that AV receivers with 8K support and HDMI 2.1 do not have to be particularly expensive. The 7.2-channel home theater receivers offer many other features in addition to 8K and HDMI 2.1.

The Denon AVR-X1700H is equipped with a 7.2-channel amplifier and has a maximum output of 145 watts into 6 ohms. Thanks to three connections with the new HDMI 2.1 standard (max. 40 Gbit/s), the device supports not only 8K at 60 Hz, but also 4K at 120 Hz with full 4: 4: 4 color resolution, with an extended color space (BT.2020) and High Dynamic Range (HLG, HDR10, HDR10 +, Dolby Vision).

It means that the new Denon receiver is also ideally suited for the next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S. In addition, the HDMI 2.1 features VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel), and QFT (Quick Frame Transport) are supported. There are also three additional HDMI connections available.

In terms of audio formats, the new Denon AVR-X1700H supports Dolby Atmos and DTS: X, among others. Height effects can be simulated using 3D upscaling. As an alternative to a 7.1 setting, a 5.1.2 speaker system is of course also possible. Other features of the new and inexpensive AV receiver include Apple AirPlay 2, streaming via Bluetooth, and support for Hi-Res audio formats (WAV, FLAC, ALAC, and DSD 2.8 / 5.6 MHz). Denon’s HEOS multiroom technology is also on board. Music can be streamed directly from Spotify, Amazon Music HD, and Co. The Audyssey MultEQ XT Room Correction System will help with the initial setup.
