Panasonic launches Leica DG Elmarit 200mm F2.8 Power OIS: Compact and Lightweight

Along with the Lumix G9, Panasonic introduces the Leica DG Elmarit 200mm F2.8 Power OIS lens. It is Micro Four Thirds lens, so this lens will give a focal length of 400mm on the Full Frame sensor. With today’s telephoto solutions, the M43 camera and the new lens are a good balance between aperture, focus, weight, and size.

This lens is a Leica DG so it has the features of a high-end lens such as durable metal housing that is dust-proof and water-resistant. Inside the lens is  15 elements, 2 of which are ultra extra-low dispersion; high-speed triple linear focus motor that supports 240fps  sensor drive speed for DFD technology on the Panasonic body.

This Leica Elmarit 200mm lens can withstand up to 6.5 stops when paired with the Panasonic body. Lightweight and compact size are complementary elements that help you grip better, with less blurring.

With this Leica DG Elmarit 200mm F2.8 Power OIS lens, Panasonic adds a new M43 option for the 400mm focal length. When attached to the 1.4x Teleconverter,  extend the focusing distance to 560mm and when attached to the 2x Teleconverter, extends the focusing distance to 800mm to capture subjects at a greater distance. A lens with 400mm, 560mm, and 800mm focal lengths, combined with a lightweight body, makes it a great choice for wildlife or sports enthusiasts.

New Leica Elmarit 200mm lens and accessories will be available in early January 2018. The lens with the 1.4x teleconverter will be priced at $2,999.99 and the optional 2x teleconverter will cost $599.99.
