Sony has rolled out the release of Android 8 Oreo for its Android TV range of 2016 and 2017. As usual, the update starts from the United States and then go to Europe in the second phase. The big news of this version is the revamped home screen that revolves around “channel” rows. These macro-categories group elements from related subject areas, such as applications, Netflix, YouTube, and so on. The channels allow you to scroll through all the contents inside them with a horizontal development.
The firmware update also solves some problems and makes various improvements. We talk about a more functional home screen, improvements in Google Assistant searches and eliminating image quality issues when playing content in Dolby Vision via Netflix.
