Google Chromecast 3 With FHD Streaming at 60fps Launched: Price, Availability

Along with the Pixel 3 series devices, Google has also announced the Chromecast 3. This is a third-generation Chromecast was announced at the Pixel event. The aesthetics are slightly revisited: instead of the Chrome logo, now there is the ubiquitous capital G, and the finishes and colors change a little.

The rest remains fundamentally unchanged: price, form factor and operating system. The main limitation is that the video resolution can not exceed the FHD 1080p, but this year the support for 60 frames per second is mentioned; the previous version mentioned only a generic 1080p, and more technical documentation spoke only of 1080p at 30fps. For 4K you still have to turn to the more expensive Chromecast Ultra.

Google Chromecast 3 comes with built-in HDMI cable and it comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz/5Ghz) support, however, the Wi-Fi reception has been improved with a maximum antenna gain of 4dBi compared to Chromecast 2’s 2.1dBi gain, which is about 50% improvement.

You can play music in sync with other speakers connected to Google’s smart devices, like a Chromecast Audio dongle, but it will be available via an update later this year.

It is already available to purchase online via BestBuy Store, priced at $35. It will also be available through Google Store and comes in Charcoal and new Chalk color, with a new matte finish.
