After being launched at IFA 2017, Alcatel is expanding the availability of Alcatel Idol 5 smartphone and now the device is available for pre-orders on UK. Alcatel Idol 5 UK unlocked variant has gone up for pre-orders on Amazon.co.uk. Pre-orders start at £189.99 for the 3GB RAM + 16GB storage model.
Alcatel took the opportunity at IFA 2017 in Berlin to launch four new smartphones and expand its portfolio, namely the Alcatel Idol 5, Alcatel Idol 5S, Alcatel A7 XL, and Alcatel A7. In which the Alcatel Idol 5 is already up for pre-orders and will be made available on September 15 this month.
On the other, consumers will have to wait until November for the Alcatel A7, and Alcatel A7 XL. These new devices will also be launched in Latin America by the end of this year.
Alcatel Idol 5 has a 7.5mm thin metal uni-body and it comes with a 5.2-inch IPS display with FHD (1920×1080) resolution and a 2.5D Dragontrail glass layer on top of it. It is powered by MediaTek MT6753 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expandable via micro SD. The battery capacity is a 2800mAh and the device runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
On the camera front, the Alcatel Idol 5 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and FHD (1080p) video recording at 30fps. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with a f/2.4 aperture with HD (720p) video recording at 30fps. It packs a 2800mAh battery that is rated to take 3 hours 30 minutes to fully charge.
The smartphone comes with an App Cloner function to stay logged-in on two separate social or messaging accounts – like Snapchat, WhatsApp, Facebook, and more- on the same device. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2, USB OTG, Micro USB, and dual-SIM support. It measures 148 x 73 x 7.5mm and weighs 155 grams.
