The Bang & Olufsen Beosound A5 portable speaker is a powerhouse of audio equipment, equipped with a strong battery, a Qi charging dock, and a WiFi module for Apple AirPlay 2. These best hi-fi portable speakers are designed with simplicity in mind to increase repairability and extend the lifespan of the device.
The Beosound A5 is versatile, with a convenient handle and a built-in battery that lasts up to twelve hours. The stereo hi-fi speakers are also equipped with Bluetooth 5.2, making them perfect for use on the go. Despite its dimensions of 28.5 x 18.7 x 13 centimeters and a weight of 3.7 kilograms, the speaker is not the most compact of its kind.
The cabinet contains a 135-millimeter woofer, two 50-millimeter full-range drivers, and a 20-millimeter tweeter, each connected to its 70-watt amplifier, which makes the new WiFi speakers capable of reproducing frequencies from 32 Hz to 23 kHz, and a maximum volume of 101 dB. Two Beosound A5 units can be combined to create a stereo pair, the sound automatically adapting to the respective room while offering an equalizer to customize the sound.
The Beosound A5 speaker allows music to be streamed via USB-C or Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, and Spotify Connect with easy playback control. The speaker has buttons on the top panel for managing playback, and a hidden Qi charging pad for smartphone charging. The Bluetooth speaker hifi quality case is IP65 certified, but the manufacturer warns that the wood and paper components are not waterproof. The modular housing design is a fantastic feature, allowing for replacements of defective components and potential upgrades.

The Bang & Olufsen Beosound A5 is available for pre-order from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk for $1,199 / £999 and will be available on May 17, 2023.
