The Asus ROG Strix XG27ACS, which has recently been available in the US & UK, will soon have a sister model called the ROG Strix XG27WCS. It shifts from an IPS to a VA panel, adopts a curved display over the flat design of its predecessor, and retains the WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) with a refresh rate of up to 180 Hz. Priced at under $300, it aims to be the best HDR 1440p gaming monitor in its price range.
The data sheet also mentions 8-bit color depth, 400 cd/m² peak brightness, 125 percent sRGB, 95 percent DCI-P3, a power consumption of less than 22.5 watts, and a contrast ratio of 3000:1. The DisplayHDR-400-certified innovation also offers the prospect of a 1 ms fast gray change.
The latter should ensure solid black levels. ELMB-Sync makes it possible to use the anti-tearing technology FreeSync (probably at a premium level) and an anti-blur tool at the same time.
Other features of the 1500 R curved 27-inch model include Variable Overdrive 2.0, a dynamic black stabilizer, and an AI-supported crosshair overlay. The interface selection includes DisplayPort 1.4 (WQHD at max. 180 Hz), HDMI 2.0 (WQHD at max. 144 Hz ), USB-C (WQHD at max. 180 Hz), and a headphone output. The monitor includes a USB-C charging port; however, its output is quite low at only 7.5 watts.
