Introducing the Ultimate Trio: DZOFILM PAVO 2x Lenses in 65mm, 135mm, and 180mm

DZOFILM has broadened its collection of Super35 2x anamorphic optics with the introduction of three new PAVO 2x models: a 65mm T2.8 Macro, a 135mm T2.5, and a 180mm T2.8. The 65mm lens boasts macro capability, offsetting its slightly higher f-stop number which suggests a reduced light-gathering capability. Meanwhile, the 135mm and 180mm lenses provide extended focal lengths, distinguishing them within the series.

The series retains physical characteristics such as the location of the focus and aperture rings, and the diameter of the 86mm filter thread. However, as one would expect, the weight increases; each lens weighs around 2 kg and includes a standard support bracket. The lenses are available for PL or EF mounts and cover the Super35 frame. All lenses have either a blue or neutral coating.

Constructed from aluminum alloy, the anamorphic cinema lenses are slightly longer than other lenses in the series. They measure 160 mm in length compared to the 105-140 mm length of other lenses in the PAVO series.

The optical design of the 130 and 180 mm models consists of 16 elements in 11 groups with a 16-blade diaphragm. When purchasing, you can choose a version with a neutral or blue stripe; the user himself cannot change this with a screwdriver. The minimum focusing distance is about 1 m.

The Macro 65mm T2.8 lens is capable of focusing up to 36.6 cm, creating a magnification of 1:2. Tailored to cater to Super35 sensor cine-style cameras, this lens provides a maximum aperture of T2.8 and utilizes a 2x magnification to deliver what’s often identified as the “true” anamorphic cinematography. This results in a classic 2.39:1 aspect ratio, along with remarkable “waterfall” bokeh effects and layered horizontal blue flares.

Atlas Lens Co recently expanded its world-famous line of cine optics – Atlas Orion. Atlas Orion has released three new premium quality anamorphic cine lenses: the 18mm T2 2x, the 135mm T2.2 2x, and the 200mm T2.2 2x.

The Atlas Orion 18mm T2 2x cine lens is priced at $17,995. Meanwhile, the 135mm T2.2 2x and the 200mm cine lenses each have a retail price of $14,995.
