Apple Mac Mini 2020 with M1 chip is now more Affordable

As part of the November event, Apple presented the new MacBook Pro 13-inch 2020 with the first Apple Silicon called the Apple M1. The new ARM-based chip enables a new, significantly more powerful Macmini 2020, which was also a bit cheaper than its predecessor.

Seldom is anything cheaper at Apple, but the Macmini 2020 actually starts at $100 less than the previous model from Mac mini 2018. At the Bhphotovideo store, it starts at $699. With its compact size, incredible performance, and a wide array of ports, the Mac mini is perfect for a surprising range of uses. And with the powerful M1 chip unleashed within its 7.7″ square frame, you never know where you’ll find a Mac mini hard at work.

The form factor of the small Apple Mini Mac has not changed, on the back, you will find Ethernet, Thunderbolt or USB 4 ports, HDMI 2.0, 2x USB-A, and a 3.5 mm jack socket. The entry-level model is delivered with 256 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM, as options there are also variants with 512 GB, 1 TB of the 2 TB SSD, and a maximum of 16 GB RAM.

New to the Mac mini 2020 is of course the Octacore M1 chip based on Apple silicon, which is said to be up to 60 percent more efficient and is advertised as being significantly faster than “laptop chips” – of course only with appropriately adapted apps. Apple names a 3x faster CPU and even 6x faster-integrated graphics as reasons for an upgrade, plus the neural engine of the M1 chip, which enables machine learning algorithms to be processed 15x faster.

The new Mac mini with macOS Big Sur can control 6K displays and can be ordered immediately in the Apple online store and will be delivered from next week, the older model with Intel’s 8th core generation will apparently still be available for the time being, at least in one variable with Core i5 CPU, 8 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD.
