Apple is upgrading New MacBook Pro 2020 13 inch with M1 chip and 20 hours of Battery life

It’s finally here, the first ARM-based new MacBook Pro 2020 13 inch. Apple relies on the M1 chip, which promises almost three times the processor and five times the graphics performance compared to the previous generation, but in addition to performance, the battery life in particular benefits enormously from the new SoC.

After Apple presented the brand new M1-ARM chip, the next-generation MacBook Air, and a new Mac Mini 2020, the company is now also packing the new SoC into the MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020 – with a few advantages over the Air. The new MacBook Pro 13 2020 comes with a fan that could potentially enable higher performance under constant load – but this will probably only be shown in more detailed tests.

In any case, Apple promises a 2.8 times higher processor performance and even five times higher graphics performance compared to the previous generation, and the response time should also benefit significantly from the new chip. The high performance is not at the expense of battery life: Apple promises that the new Mac Book Pro with its 58.2 Wh battery will be charged as usual for up to 20 hours of video playback or 16 hours of web surfing USB-C.

Depending on the model, the new Apple MacBook Pro is equipped with 8 GB to 16 GB of RAM and a maximum of 2 TB, 3.3 GB/s SSD. Nothing has changed in the display, but with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels at 227 PPI and a brightness of 500 nits, this is still excellent.

The camera and microphones, on the other hand, should benefit from the processing in the M1 chip. Apple continues to install the illuminated Magic Keyboard, the Touch Bar, Touch ID, and the huge glass trackpad. In terms of connections, there are only two Thunderbolt ports (USB-C) in addition to AUX, which can also be used to operate 6K displays.

New MacBook Pro 2020 13 Inch prices and availability

The basic model of the new MacBook Pro 13 inch 2020 with the M1 chip, 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD costs $1,299, the surcharges for more storage can be found on the Bhphotovideo.com online store. Curious: the high-end model continues to use an Intel processor, presumably for customers who do not want to switch to ARM yet.
