Xiaomi Mi 4i MIUI 6.5.5.0 update to solve Overheating problem

Xiaomi Mi 4i smartphone owners can now perform firmware updates for the MIUI operating system. The MIUI 6.5.5.0 update (LXIMICD) update now available for download via OTA and update size is around 40 MB, is smaller than previously reported, 804 MB.

A Hugo Barra, Xiaomi’s Vice President of International Operations in a Facebook post late Monday night revealed that this was the first major update for the Mi 4i since the handset’s launch last month. User can update it via OTA through Xiaomi device. To update, open the Updater application, select the Check for Update.

Once the download is complete, the user is prompted to restart the Mi 4i device, this process can be run in less than five minutes.

The Xiaomi MIUI 6.5.5.0 Update was released to address the overheating issues on new Mi 4i smartphone devices. The Xiaomi also claimed that a new update can optimize heat control algorithms in order to get better temperature regulation in the device.

“We’ve heard from some Mi 4i users that their devices can get warm under more strenuous conditions such as complex 3D gaming for extended periods of time. To address these concerns, we’ve optimised our thermal control algorithms to better regulate the temperature. The new thermal controls adjust frequency, voltage and the number of cores in use depending on the chipset temperature.” said by Hugo Barra in his Facebook account.

The new heat control algorithm that regulates frequency, voltage, and the number of processor cores that are used depend on the temperature of the chipset.

The Xiaomi Mi 4i use 64-bit Snapdragon MSM8939 615 chipset with a 1.7 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 Processor, Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It has a 5-inch IPS display with Full-HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixel with a pixel density of 441ppi. It features a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual-tone flash; a 5-megapixel front camera; 16GB of internal memory and battery capacity of a 3120mAh.
