For users who want to buy a fully assembled and optimized PC from the factory instead of having to build it by themselves, Lenovo recently launches the ThinkStation P620 workstation which is now available to buy on the Amazon store. The company says this is the world’s first Lenovo workstation with AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO platform, 64 cores, and clocked up to 4.0GHz.
Lenovo says the Ryzen Threadripper PRO is AMD’s high-end chip, one of the most powerful single-socket CPUs, and even more powerful than many other dual-socket chips. Supports 64 cores clocked up to 4GHz, 128 streams OCIe 4.0, and memory 8 channels.
With such power, Lenovo says that the ThinkStation P620 allows users to stream 8K in real-time, reduce render times, solve simulation problems super fast, rebuild quickly, and interact with 3D resources extremely smoothly.
The Ryzen Threadripper PRO has advanced security features such as AMD Secure Processor, pre-execution code verification to ensure data and application integrity. There is also an AMD Memory Guard feature that allows full memory encryption to help protect sensitive data from physical attacks in the event of loss or theft.
Lenovo P series ThinkStation P620 uses AMD Premium Chipset BXB-B motherboard, can be equipped with up to 6 hard drives (4 internal drive trays), up to 2 M2 PCIe SSDs with a capacity of 2TB each, and up to 4 3.5″ HDDs with a total capacity of 16TB. It supports 2 NVIDIA Quadro RTX 8000 cards or 4 RTX 4000 cards, up to 512GB DDR4, 3200MHz (8x64GB DIMM modules) memory. In addition, Lenovo also said that the ThinkStation P620 is the first and only workstation with PCIe gen 4.
In terms of external dimensions, ThinkStation P620 165 x 460 x 440mm, weighing 24kg in the highest configuration, using 1000W power available with 92% efficiency. Lenovo says it has partnered with AMD to optimize the heat sink design to more effectively address the CPU heat issue. The entire space will be cooled by air instead of water.
In terms of connectivity, the ThinkStation P620 front has 4 USB ports (2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C), mic, and headphone ports. The rear will have 4 more USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, 2 USB 2.0 Type-A ports, PS / 2, RJ-45 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Audio Line-In, Audio Line-Out, and Microphone-In.
