Tamron 17-50mm F4 Di III VXD for Sony E is now offical

Tamron has officially introduced the 17-50mm F4 Di III VXD, a wide-angle full-frame zoom lens (Model A068) designed for Sony mirrorless cameras. This announcement comes after its initial unveiling in August.

The lens’s optical configuration comprises 15 elements arranged in 13 groups, featuring three low-dispersion elements, one molded aspherical element, and two composite aspherical elements.

It boasts a 9-blade diaphragm with rounded blades for smooth bokeh. The lens’s autofocus is powered by a swift and precise VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear drive.

Measuring a compact 114.4 mm in length and weighing a mere 460 g, this lens incorporates an internal zoom mechanism. This means it maintains its compact form factor even when zoomed in. The focal range extends to 50mm, making it suitable for capturing portraits and tighter shots of everyday subjects.

With a minimum focusing distance of 7.5″ at the wide end and 11.8″ at the telephoto end, it excels at close-up photography. This versatile range is complemented by a constant f/4 maximum aperture, prioritizing portability and rendering it an excellent all-around lens.

Designed with multimedia applications in mind, this lens features a VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor that ensures rapid and silent autofocus performance. Its internal zoom and focus design maintain a consistent length during operation, ensuring ease of handling, particularly when using a gimbal stabilizer.
