Since the beginning of the pandemic, many users have had to switch to the home office, although some have discovered the advantages of working from home for themselves. Accordingly, even after the end of the pandemic, the demand for the hardware required for this is likely to remain well above 2019 levels.

Samsung is now trying to serve part of this market with its new monitor with webcam. It is a 24-inch monitor that has a Full HD resolution and a refresh rate of 75 Hz. The IPS panel becomes bright up to 250 cd/m2, which means that the display is unlikely to be suitable for use in direct sunlight. The manufacturer specifies the gray-to-gray response time as 5 ms. Support for AMD’s FreeSync is also on board.

What sets the Samsung 24 inch monitor apart from other models, however, is the integrated pop-out webcam at the top of the display. It saves users the additional purchase of a separate camera. The Samsung S40A also supports logging in via Windows Hello, which significantly simplifies the login process. The manufacturer also installs a microphone and loudspeaker here, which saves additional equipment.

Price and availability

Samsung S40A webcam monitor has been priced at $319.99, but now it is available for $299 on the website. In summary, the Samsung monitor looks a bit expensive at first glance with its Full HD panel. However, if you add the costs for the webcam, microphone, and loudspeaker into account, the display could be interesting for one or the other user.
