Sonos Roam 2 portable outdoor waterproof Bluetooth speaker with IP67, AirPlay 2, and Trueplay

Along with the Sonos Ace over-ear headphones, the manufacturer also introduced the Sonos Roam 2 portable outdoor waterproof Bluetooth speaker. Weighing just 430 grams, the Roam 2 is by far the most compact portable speaker from Sonos. In the second generation, the waterproof Bluetooth and WLAN speaker receives, above all, a long-overdue setup improvement.

At first glance, the Sonos Roam 2 looks very similar to the previous model, and the technical data is practically identical. What is particularly new is that Sonos has installed a dedicated button for pairing with a Bluetooth device, which means it is finally possible to use the speaker via Bluetooth straight out of the box, instead of having to first configure it as a WiFi speaker using the Sonos app.

The battery life remains unchanged on paper at 10 hours, and little else has changed in the 430-gram, 16.8 x 6.2 x 6-centimeter speaker. The housing is IP67 certified, which means the speaker should survive a fall into the pool. Sonos once again installs a tweeter and a midrange driver. Trueplay automatically adjusts the sound to the environment, and an equalizer in the Sonos app allows you to adjust the sound manually if desired.

Pressing the Play button for a few seconds automatically passes music playback to the next Sonos speaker. An optional magnetic charging dock enhances the usability of the new Sonos waterproof Bluetooth speaker. The portable speaker supports both at-home WLAN and on-the-go Bluetooth connections, including Apple AirPlay 2 and integration with the Sonos system.
