Denon Home 150 NV wireless speaker with HEOS and Hi-Res audio

Denon has introduced the Home 150 NV, designed to compete directly with the Sonos Era 100. This speaker stands out for its versatility, featuring Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, and a USB port. Importantly, it offers a lower price and ensures user privacy by not including microphones in its design.

Denon provides a cheaper sister model to the Home 150. The Denon 150 NV is similar to the Home 150 but does not have microphones. This absence renders it incompatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri voice assistants.

The audio hardware remains unchanged; Denon has equipped the speaker with an 89-millimeter woofer and a 25-millimeter tweeter, pairing each of them with a dedicated Class D amplifier. While users can connect devices using an AUX cable or Bluetooth if desired, the Denon Home 150 NV supports both Ethernet and Wi-Fi 5 for home network integration. This support allows for music streaming via Apple AirPlay 2, Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon Music.

The USB-A port on the back facilitates the connection of hard drives or USB sticks containing music. Users can then play this music using the associated HEOS smartphone app. The Denon 150 NV supports Hi-Fi music up to 24-bit at 192 kHz and DSD up to 5.6 MHz. The app permits you to pair two Home 150 NVs into a stereo set. Additionally, it provides options to connect a HEOS subwoofer wirelessly or set the Home 150 NV as a surround speaker for a compatible Denon soundbar.

The new Denon Home speaker is already available for pre-order in the US on Amazon.com and Bhphotovideo.com at a recommended retail price of $219, making it $30 cheaper than the older Denon Home 150 smart sound speakers. It will be released on May 15, 2024.
