Philips, now under the umbrella of TP Vision, has released its latest OLED TVs, the Philips OLED708 series. These TVs, available in sizes up to 65 inches, come packed with features like HDMI 2.1, Ambilight, and Google TV integration.
Philips OLED 708 series comes with 4K UHD resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Driving the image processing is the P5 Generation 7 with AI (artificial intelligence), featuring Ambient Intelligence Version 2. This version facilitates real-time adjustments to brightness, gamma, and color reproduction according to the ambient light conditions. Additionally, an inbuilt XYZ light sensor optimizes color temperature by comparing it to the room’s light.
The Philips OLED708, running on Google TV, supports a wide array of HDR formats including HLG, Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive, IMAX Enhanced, and Filmmaker Mode. The Ambilight feature utilizes colored LEDs to cast an appropriate background glow, though it employs group control instead of the “next generation” individual LED control.
For audio, a 2.0 sound system without a subwoofer, delivers a sound output of 40 watts RMS, supporting Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, among other formats. The TV comes equipped with two HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), AMD FreeSync Premium, Nvidia G-SYNC, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa compatibility.
