After six years, the Beats Studio3 (approx. $232 on Amazon) is finally getting a successor. Apple changes surprisingly little in terms of design but promises more upgrades in terms of sound and functionality.

Because the brand new 40-millimeter drivers are said to distort 80 percent less than their predecessors at high volume. Along with improved micro-venting, 25 percent stronger magnets, and revised signal processing, Apple promises the most powerful and accurate sound of any Beats headphones released to date. The new Beats Studio Pro supports Apple’s spatial audio with head tracking, but the personalized version of this technology is only possible in connection with an iPhone.

The new microphones are said to filter disruptive ambient noise 27 percent more effectively. Active noise cancellation analyzes background noise 48,000 times per second to improve efficiency. A transparency mode is also available at the push of a button. While Apple does not use Hi-Fi Bluetooth codecs, the Beats Studio Pro’s DAC supports high-resolution files as long as they are imported via a USB-C cable. A 3.5mm connector is also available for broad compatibility.

According to Apple, the battery lasts 40 hours of music playback, and ten minutes of charging should provide enough energy for four hours of playback. With active ANC, the runtime drops to 24 hours. The leather ear pads promise high wearing comfort. The headphones support both Apple’s “Where’s?” as well as Google’s “Find My Device” so that they can be tracked down on an iPhone as well as on an Android smartphone. With support for Google Fast Pair and the dedicated Beats app, the headphones should be able to be used with Android devices without restrictions.

New Beats Studio Pro price and release date

The new Beats Studio Pro is now available for pre-order on Amazon at $349.99 in Black, Deep Brown, Navy, and Sandstone color options.
