The highly anticipated successor to the world’s most popular VR headset is now available for pre-order, and the Meta Quest 3 release date and price is out now. The new Quest 3 boasts a 30 percent increase in resolution and a remarkably sleeker design aimed at enhancing comfort during use.
Meta introduced this new VR headset back in June, and now they’ve confirmed the Quest 3 release date and price, and technology specifics. Compared to the Quest 2 (approx. $300 / £300 on Amazon), Meta promises a significantly enhanced performance, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2. They specifically claim double the graphics performance and lightning-fast loading times.
The display resolution sees a 30 percent boost, with Meta touting 1,218 PPI or 25 pixels per degree of the field of view. Innovative lenses in front of the displays have allowed Meta to make the headset 40 percent slimmer, optimizing weight distribution and comfort. The redesigned headband offers customizable adjustments to accommodate various hairstyles, head shapes, and even eyeglasses.
The audio experience has undergone a fundamental overhaul as well, with Meta promising spatial audio featuring stronger bass and a 40 percent increase in volume. Meta Quest 3 focuses on gaming, as it introduces new and updated games, along with support for Xbox Cloud Gaming starting in December. However, it’s important to note that games like Halo Infinite will only be available on a “giant” 2D screen within the headset.

The base model with 128 GB of storage comes with a recommended retail price of $499.99 / £479.99, while the 512 GB version is priced at $649.99 / £619.99.
