Marantz launches CD60 CD and USB player with ESS DAC

Marantz introduced CD 60, an optical best CD player designed to match the Model 40n amplifier (approx. $2,500 on Amazon). The design is also taken from the latter, with a flat front part and concave sides characterized by a particular texture. The chassis of the new Marantz CD player is made of SECC with 1mm thick plates and is equipped with a double-reinforced bottom to eliminate vibrations.

Inside the new Marantz CD player, we find an EI transformer and an HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules) circuit optimized for CD 60 thanks to asymmetrical positioning on the sound card, in order to create a more direct signal path. These improvements ensure, according to Marantz, a significant reduction in distortion at high frequencies.

In the CD60 CD player or home, the proprietary HDAM circuit has been further optimized from its previous version by placing the parts symmetrically on the audio board and creating a more direct signal path. This update improves the sound stage from the previous models in pursuit of The Most Musical Sound.

The digital-to-analog conversion is entrusted to an ESS ES9016K2M DAC capable of supporting sampling rates up to 192 kHz / 24-bit and DSD up to 5.6 MHz. The playhead can play CDs and CD-R / RWs containing MP3 and WMA. Through the front USB-A (reads FAT16 and FAT32) you can also listen to high-resolution songs in WAV, FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, and DSD as well as lossy formats (with loss of quality) MP3, WMA, and AAC.

The users have two digital filters that modify the sound performance. Headphone listening is entrusted to a dedicated amplifier combined with an HDAM-SA2 circuit with three selectable gain levels (Low, Medium, High). If desired, the amplifier can also be completely cut off when not in use to eliminate any unwanted interference.
