Marantz Model 40n is a new HEOS amplifier aimed at music lovers who are looking for a solution capable of integrating more functions. The Marantz 40n acts as a home stereo amplifier and source for streaming.
Aesthetically, the electronics have a particular front side: the lines are characterized by the alternation between the flat surface that houses the controls and a concave part. The measurements are 443 (W) x 130 (H) x 432 (D) millimeters. The screen is shaped like a porthole as on all Marantz production in recent years.
The amplification section integrates the proprietary Hyper-Dynamic Amplifier Modules technology: specifically, we are talking about HDAM-SA3. This solution is used to optimize performance across the entire frequency range. Then we find a double-shielded toroidal transformer and a Class A / B amplifier, capable of delivering 70 W x 2 into 8 ohms or 100 W x 2 into 4 ohms. Marantz also isolated the power circuits from the audio ones and also shortened the signal paths to minimize interference.
The available functions are numerous: there is an MM (Moving Magnet) phono input equipped with Musical Phono EQ. You can also use an application for iOS and Android devices to control the system.
The available connections include a USB-A port (5V, 1A), and HDMI with ARC to enhance the sound of a TV, optical digital input and a coaxial, 3 analog inputs and output on RCA, the output for connecting a subwoofer and input for a pre-amplifier (in this case Model 40n operates as a power amp).
