Lenovo announced its new line of LOQ gaming laptops. Packed with solid midrange gaming capabilities, LOQ (pronounced “lock”) laptops come at reasonably affordable prices to put the hardware in the hands of both new and experienced gamers.

The LOQ 15IRH8 and 15APH8 both feature a 15-inch WQHD (2560×1440) IPS display with 165Hz variable refresh rate, 100% sRGB coverage, G-SYNC support, and 250 nits backlighting. The 15APH8, which is the AMD-based variant, also supports AMD FreeSync. The 15IRH8 can be configured with an Intel Core i7-13700H 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700H processor while the 15APH8 can be equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS cPU.

Both 15-inch Lenovo gaming notebook models can be purchased with up to 16GB of 5600MHz DDR5 RAM, up to 1TB of PCIe Gen4 storage, and up to an Nvidia RTX 4060HS processor Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU. Both machines are powered by a 60Wh battery that can be charged via USB-C (up to 140W) or a dedicated 170W or 230W slim adapter, depending on the configuration.

Port selection includes a single USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) port, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, an RJ45 Ethernet jack, and a headphone jack. The Intel variant has an additional USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) port, while the AMD model has a USB-A 2.0 (480 Mbps) port.

The Lenovo LOQ 16IRH8 and 16APH8 are 16-inch laptops featuring 16:10 WQXGA (2560×1600) IPS displays with the same 165Hz variable refresh rate, G-Sync support, and backlighting as their respective siblings from 15 inches. Other internal specs are the same as smaller LOQ laptops, except for a more powerful 80Wh battery. Port selection on 16-inch LOQ laptops mirrors that of each 15-inch LOQ device.

The Lenovo LOQ series comes with a MUX switch (when configured with an Nvidia GPU) to better handle graphics switching through Nvidia Advanced Optimus. That means the laptop can activate Nvidia’s dGPU during gaming or graphically demanding work, then switch back to the power-efficient iGPU to improve battery life when not plugged in.
