Honor X8a with 90Hz Display and 100 MP Triple Camera introduced

The former Huawei subsidiary has presented a brand new mid-range smartphone Honor X8a that is supposed to impress with a 100 MP triple camera and a 1080p+ 90Hz display at an attractive price.

The brand new Honor X8a is slightly more expensive than the Honor X8 5G already available (approx. £200 on Amazon), but it also offers a few upgrades. Above all, the mid-range smartphone comes with a 100 MP f/1.9 main rear camera, which is accompanied by a 5 MP ultra wide-angle camera and a 2 MP macro camera.

The 16 MP f/2.45 front camera sits in a central punch hole. Videos can only be recorded in 1080p resolution. The smartphone supports a dual-view mode, with which the main camera and the front camera can film at the same time. The smartphone relies on the MediaTek Helio G88, a mid-range processor from 2020 that combines two powerful ARM Cortex-A75 cores clocked at up to 2.0 GHz with six economical Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz combined. However, the Honor X8a completely lacks a 5G modem.

The smartphone has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory. The 6.7-inch IPS panel offers a 90Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2,388 x 1,080 pixels. The 4,500 mAh battery can be charged via USB-C with up to 22.5 watts, which allows the smartphone to be charged from 0 to 50 percent in 30 minutes. The smartphone comes with MagicUI 6.1 based on Android 12.

Price and release date

The Honor X8a is available for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk at £232.35 for an unlocked model and will be released on February 15, 2023.
