Leica is enhancing its native lens support for its L-mount SL system cameras with the integration of the Summicron-SL 35mm f2 ASPH and the Summicron-SL 50mm f/2 ASPH. These Leica lenses are compact and lightweight, yet they maintain the distinctive shallow depth of field and aesthetic appeal associated with Summicron optics.

According to Leica, both lenses have extremely fast focusing capabilities, achieved through their smooth and accurate linear drive motor. This makes them suitable for both photography and videography purposes.
Summicron-SL 35mm f2 ASPH.
The 35mm f2 has an optical design of 11 elements arranged in 9 groups, six of which have aspherical surfaces. The lens has an aperture range of f/2 to f/22, although Leica did not specify the number of aperture blades at the time of announcement. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.24 meters and a 67mm front filter thread.
Compared to the APO-SL 35mm, the new product weighs less (400g versus 750g), is more compact (83mm versus 102mm), and can focus closer (0.24m versus 0.27m). It also uses one more aspherical element than the APO-SL 35mm.
