DZOFilm Marlin 1.6x Expander now available to Pre-order

DZOFILM has announced the release of a new optical adapter – Marlin 1.6x Expander. It allows compatibility between Pictor Zoom S35 lenses and large-format sensors. The expander is available in 5 different mounting options: PL to E-mount, RF, L, PL, and LPL.

DZOFilm Marlin 1.6x Expander

The Marlin 1.6x expander is optimized for the Pictor zoom lens range and supports other PL-mount Super 35 lenses, extending their reach to full-frame or Vista Vision sensors.

According to the manufacturer, the Marlin 1.6x does not require shimming and provides high image quality without affecting its original quality. However, it should be borne in mind that there will still be exposure losses – by about 1.5 steps.

The Marlin 1.6x adapter has a strong, compact, and lightweight design, while the detachable base can provide additional support for heavier lenses. The adapter mount is made of stainless steel, which gives the accessory an additional guarantee of reliability.

Adapters for different mounts turned out to be quite weighty. So, the heaviest of the five Marlin 1.6x expanders presented by DZOFILM weighs a little more than 0.7 kg, while it has a length of no more than 109 mm.

Price and availability

DZOFilm Marlin 1.6x Expander prices range from $1,159 to $1,699, depending on the mount, and are finally available to pre-order on the Bhphotovideo.com and Adorama.com websites.
