The running and hiking watch comes with a sturdy titanium case, an altimeter, offline maps, and an integrated GPS. The round display of the watch measures 1.4 inches diagonally with a resolution of 280 x 280 pixels, shielded from scratches by sapphire glass. The case is made of glass fiber-reinforced polyamide and is waterproof up to 100 meters, regardless of whether you choose the stainless steel or titanium bezel.

Suunto promises a battery life of 30 days for the stainless steel model and 60 days for the titanium version since only the latter has integrated solar cells. The robust housing, the long battery life, the choice of over 95 sport modes, and the dual-band GPS module should make the Suunto Vertical the best watch for outdoor sports. For precisely this purpose, Suunto also allows maps to be loaded directly onto the smartwatch via the associated smartphone app so that they are also available without an internet connection.

These maps contain important landmarks such as rivers, contour lines, and paths. Access to the offline maps is free and without a subscription. The smartwatch has an integrated compass and a depth gauge that works underwater when snorkeling up to a depth of 10 meters. A heart rate sensor and sleep tracking complete the equipment.

Garmin also introduced two brand new Instinct tactical solar watch models, featuring an almost unlimited battery life thanks to integrated solar cells and a bright LED flashlight. Pricing for these watches starts from $449.
