Asus has introduced an exciting OLED gaming monitor that should be perfect for the PC, the Xbox Series X, and the PlayStation 5. Asus ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ has a 42-inch 120 Hz fast 4K OLED panel that covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color space.
After the LG UltraGear 48GQ900 OLED monitor (approx. $1,500 on Amazon) has already proven to be extremely popular with gaming enthusiasts due to its fast response times and perfect black levels, Asus also offers a corresponding display, in the form of a dedicated gaming device – 4K OLED monitor.
Asus ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, achieves a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color space. The contrast ratio is rated at 1,000,000:1, the response time at 0.1 ms (gray to gray), and the color depth at 10 bits (without FRC).
Furthermore, a Delta E value of less than 2 and a micro-texture coating for the OLED panel are promised. The latter is intended to reduce annoying glare/reflections. An internal cooling system is supposed to keep the operating temperature of the monitors below 50 degrees Celsius, which means that a peak brightness of 900 cd/m² can be achieved.
To be able to use the full 120 Hz at 4K resolution, the OLED gaming monitor offers a total of four HDMI ports, two of which are fully equipped with HDMI 2.1 with a bandwidth of 48 Gbit/s. A DisplayPort and an integrated USB hub are also available.
