This is Acer’s new laptop was launched recently with a powerful configuration, suitable for any purpose, such as design, graphics or high-end gaming. Invite you to explore the Acer Aspire A715 72G review below.
Design and Build
The first thing we noted in the design of the Acer Aspire A715 72G has a very similar Aspire series design. The metal material used along with the cover of the device is giving it a luxurious look. The black cover with two antenna bands is to help catch the wifi better.
The point we did not like about the lid with the metal surface which leaves fingerprints that do not look very beautiful. The laptop has a metal plate for the palm rest area, which gives it a slight premium feeling.
Acer Aspire A715 72G is also equipped with a variety of modern connectivity, such as the left edge of the device with LAN port, USB-C, HDMI, USB 3.0 and SD card slot. The right side with a charging port, two USB 2.0 ports, and a 3.5mm headphone port.
The hinge part of the laptop is redesigned for greater opening angle than 180 degrees and also has the ability to open with one hand just like on a MacBook. The torsion of the hinge is good too so you can use it at multiple angles without worrying.
The weight of the Acer Aspire A715 72G is around 2kg, so it is suitable for you to carry around with you anywhere.
Display
As mentioned above, The lid can also tilt all the way back, to 180 degrees, which also means that the laptop also possesses the ability for wide viewing angles.
It has a 15.6-inch display with Full HD resolution and vibrant color display, suitable for demanding graphics, image editing. In addition, the screen brightness, as well as the contrast, is quite good, making you comfortable when working outdoors.
Keyboard, Trackpad and Fingerprint Sensor
Acer Aspire A715 72G uses a full keyboard along with a number pad and has a white backlight to use in low light conditions.
The typing experience on the keyboard is that the keys have a relatively deep, good bounce, the sound that comes out when typing is almost nonexistent. The keys are well spaced out and are comfortable for typing. With this keyboard, the typing speed can be up to 72 ~ 75 words per minute. The keyboard has good travel for typing and the keys aren’t too noisy.
Similar to the Trackpad of the device with super smooth scrolling, and superior multi-touch capabilities. We also found the trackpad to be generously proportioned, and button presses don’t require too much effort. Not only this, the trackpad keeps the ability to recognize sweat hand too well.
Finally, the fingerprint sensor is relatively in size and is placed inside the trackpad. We tried using this sensor and it is very fast as a smartphone. This sensor is also quite convenient because it helps to unlock the laptop faster.
Performance
On the specifications side, we have the Acer Aspire A715 72G with Intel Core Core i5 8300H CPU, 2.3 GHz clocked at 4.0GHz turbo boost, 8GB of RAM, a discrete GTX 1050 4GB graphics card and a 1TB HDD hard drive. With such specifications, Windows 10 runs smoothly, opening various menus very quickly.
The Aspire 5 performs well in benchmarks, and in some multi-threaded tests, we got 73,960 points in Geekbench software, which are good scores for an i5 series CPU.
The Aspire 5 does a decent job when running graphics software such as Maya, CorelDraw, Illustrator or Photoshop, without lag. The ability to render with video editing software such as Premier, Proshow, etc. is also quite fast, greatly reducing your waiting time.
This powerful configuration also lets you play high-end games smoothly. We also try to play through two titles: CS: GO and League of Legends set at maximum configuration, the frame rate per second reached 80 ~ 85 FPS and quite stable when playing.
Battery life
Like many other gaming laptops, the average battery life is quite straightforward with the Acer Aspire A715 72G.
We tested the battery life of this device with 75% screen brightness, speaker volume level at 50%, connected with WiFi and used the Chrome browser with about 20 tabs open at a time to read the news, listen to music, YouTube and more. We managed to get about 5 hours 30 minutes, which is about average.
But if you play games or do tasks that require high graphics processing, the battery life will be reduced in double speed, you’ll get only about 2 hours for high-end gaming. We recommend that you have to plug the charger when playing a game on this laptop in order to get maximum performance.
Final line
With many advantages and support for many different subjects, the Acer Aspire A715 72G has a good price, about $899.00 (i7-8750H).
There are a lot more to deal with, but with this money, you will be the owner of a laptop which is capable of handling graphics, design and even high-end games too.
