Synology is now offering a new network storage device with the DS723+. The NAS enclosure is equipped with a Ryzen processor and expandable RAM, and it allows for a particularly fast network connection to be retrofitted.
NAS specialist, Synology, has introduced a new network storage device, the Synology DiskStation DS723+. This model is equipped with an AMD Ryzen R1600 processor, which includes two computing cores. Additionally, it includes a hardware encryption module and 2 gigabytes of DDR4 ECC memory, which is expandable up to 32 gigabytes.
Two bays for mass storage in 3.5 and 2.5-inch formats are available for installing hard drives and SSDs, as well as two M.2 2280 NVMe ports. The NVMe SSDs can also be used as a cache, which should help performance. The built-in eSATA port allows the connection of an expansion case, which allows additional hard drives to be installed. With the DX517, a total of seven mass storage devices can be used.
Connection to a network is via two Gigabit Ethernet ports. With the E10G22-T1-Mini, Synology also offers a PCIe expansion card that retrofits a 10-gigabit port.
The DS723+ from Synology is aimed at private users and small businesses. It offers integration with the cloud and allows for the creation of comprehensive backup plans. According to the manufacturer, it can control over 8,300 IP cameras and ONVIF devices, and display up to 40 cameras in one interface.
Additionally, the DS723+ allows for central storage of photos and joint editing of documents using Synology’s Productivity Suite. It also supports virtualization features and the physical dimension of the system is 166 x 106 x 223 millimeters.
