The Hisense PX2-Pro is now available, marking the debut of a smart home cinema projector designed for ultra-short projection distances. These devices are ideally suited to serve as television replacements when coupled with a compatible screen, offering a simpler installation process compared to conventional projectors.

For a 90-inch diagonal display, a mere 59 millimeters projection distance is needed, while a slightly extended distance of nearly 69 millimeters expands the projected image to 120 inches. This translates to a projection ratio of 0.25:1.

Boasting a brightness of 2,400 lumens, the projector’s LED performance is remarkably high. The Hisense PX2-Pro TriChroma laser cinema projector is also capable of displaying 4K content, promising exceptional sharpness. However, it’s important to note that this isn’t a native 4K projector; the elevated resolution is achieved through rapid pixel shifting over time. Whether this is noticeable depends on individual sensitivity and the nature of the content being displayed.

The innovative TriChroma laser engine employs three lasers to deliver a captivating color display. It covers a notable 107 percent of the BT.2020 color space and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

Measuring 52 x 32.4 x 16 centimeters, the system features dual HDMI 2.1 inputs for image signals, while content can also be played from USB storage devices. The inclusion of WiFi 5 facilitates wireless transmission. The input lag at 4K resolution and 60 Hz stands at 49 milliseconds.

Hisense PX2-Pro price and release date

The Hisense PX2-Pro smart home cinema projector is available for pre-order on the Bhphotovideo.com online platform, priced at $2,999. It’s worth noting that the predecessor can be found at a more cheaper price point on Amazon.

In parallel, BenQ has revealed an advanced Android-powered smart cinema projector: the TK860i. With its HDR Pro technology ensuring exceptional picture quality even in well-lit settings, this projector shines in various environments. Operating on the Android TV platform, the BenQ TK860i is a remarkable addition, available for purchase at $1,799 / £2,342.
