Acer Chromebook Plus 514 with the latest AMD Ryzen platform

The latest addition to Acer’s Chromebook lineup, the 514, takes the familiar Chromebook and elevates it to a Plus level for the first time. The small Acer Chromebook Plus 514 boasts a 14-inch WUXGA display powered by a Ryzen 7000 series platform, aiming to enhance the Chrome OS productivity experience twofold.

Acer promises an increased workload capacity by incorporating AI-powered Google and Adobe features. With the 514, Acer aligns with Google’s new Chromebook Plus system, delivering double the speed, memory, and storage compared to today’s top-selling Chromebooks.

This small Acer Chromebook Plus 514 surpasses AMD’s minimum requirements for the new program. It offers configurations with the Ryzen 5 7520C processor, coupled with either 8 or 16 GB of RAM.

Featuring a 14-inch 1920×1200 display, a MIL-STD 810H-certified Acer chassis sporting an Ocean Glass coating, a 1080p trackpad with temporal noise reduction, and DTS Audio speakers, this modern platform is equipped to impress.

The Plus 514 also incorporates Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, USB Type-C, and HDMI, reflecting the up-to-date standard features sought after by Google and Acer. The aim is to maximize productivity and creativity, handling applications like Adobe Express or Photoshop (even within a browser) along with Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides — all augmented with AI features.

It features a 1080p webcam with Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) and Blue Glass lens, plus AI-powered tools that automatically enhance clarity and lighting, cancel noise, and blur backgrounds. A physical webcam shutter is added to protect your privacy and also mute the mic and turn off the camera with one click.

Furthermore, the Chromebook Plus 514 is designed to function just as effectively offline, thanks to the Chromebook Plus file manager that provides access to files from Google apps without the need for Wi-Fi.

Asus recently introduced the Chromebook Plus CX34, boasting an Intel Core i7 processor, and a 14-inch Full HD display, weighing approximately 1.44 kilograms, and starting at $439.99.
