Samsung Galaxy A53 5G with 120 Hz AMOLED display and 64 MP quad camera

Samsung officially launched the Galaxy A53 5G. The Samsung new mobile wants to convince customers with a 120 Hz AMOLED display, a high-quality quad camera, and decent performance, but there is also a downgrade compared to the Galaxy A52s (REVIEW).

Samsung A53 5G

Samsung A53 5G differs from the cheaper model, primarily in that it has a faster display and higher-resolution cameras. Compared to the Galaxy A52s 5G (approx. $365/£294 on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk), there are surprisingly few differences: the battery grows from 4,500 mAh to 5,000 mAh, charging continues via USB-C with 25 watts, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G is powered by a Samsung Exynos 1280 replaced.

The latter is not an improvement, on the contrary – instead of four ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores, there are now only two of them, which are accompanied by six Cortex-A55. The 6.5-inch, 120Hz, 1080p+ AMOLED display is inherited from the previous model, as is the quad-camera on the rear, consisting of a 64-megapixel main camera with f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/ 2.2 aperture, a 5 MP depth camera, and a 5 MP macro camera.

However, Samsung emphasizes that there are improvements despite the identical camera hardware because both the night mode and the portrait mode should deliver better results with the Samsung Galaxy new mobile. As usual, the front camera uses a 32 MP sensor. The housing is IP67 certified, making the device waterproof. In addition to the integrated 5G modem, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.1 are also available. Pleasing: The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G comes with One UI 4.1 based on Android 12. Samsung promises four years of operating system updates and five years of security patches.

Price and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy A53 release date has been set for April 1st. The model with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory costs $449.99, while the variant with 8 GB or 256 GB of memory costs $509.

Anyone who pre-orders the Samsung A53 5G from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk by the end of March will receive a free Galaxy Buds Live (REVIEW) (approx. $99.99 on Amazon.com).
