Philips NeoPix 530 1080p LED projector is now available

Philips has unveiled its latest projector, the NeoPix 530, combining a compact design and decent resolution. This new offering, however, comes with inherent design limitations that are hard to overlook.

The NeoPix 530 marks Philips’ entry into the projector market. Unlike traditional models, this projector doesn’t rely on a classic light source, presenting both advantages and disadvantages. One notable perk, highlighted by Philips, is its compact size, measuring 294 x 274 x 107 millimeters and weighing a portable 3.21 kilograms. Additionally, the device operates quietly.

However, a significant drawback of the NeoPix 530 is its limited brightness, emitting only 350 ANSI lumens, a common limitation in such compact devices. Adequate darkening in the projection environment is imperative. As expected, as the projection size increases, the brightness per unit area decreases, making large-scale projections challenging. Philips claims a lifespan of 30,000 hours for the LED light source.

The manufacturer suggests a maximum projection size of 100 inches, requiring a distance of 254 centimeters from the projection surface. To accommodate various setups, the projector features keystone correction, enabling projection from a table onto a wall. With a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, the NeoPix 530 promises reasonably sharp displays even on larger screens.

Equipped with dual 7-watt speakers, the device accepts image signals via HDMI but lacks a built-in operating system, making it a non-smart projector.
