Sound Slayer HTB01 is the new Panasonic Dolby Atmos soundbar that expands the 2020 range with a specific gaming speaker for gamers. Inside a compact body encloses a 2.1-channel system consisting of 2 2-way speakers, and measuring 43.1 x 5.2 x 13.2cm. There are specifically 2 full-range transducers of 4 cm, 2 tweeters of 1.4 cm, 1 woofer of 8 cm, and dual passive radiator of 8 cm (each).
The amplifier section delivers 25 W x 2 for the left and right channels (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 10% THD, 20 kHz LPF) to which are added 30 W for the woofer (3 ohms, 100 Hz, 10% THD, 20 kHz LPF) for a total of 80 W in total. Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS, DTS-HD HR, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DTS: X audio tracks are supported. DTS technologies also include DTS Virtual: X, which recreates a virtual surround effect starting from 2.1 channels.
There are four pre-set modes in the new PC soundbar: the canonical Standard, Music, and Cinema are joined by Game, developed in collaboration with the team that oversaw the audio of the Final Fantasy XIV Online game. Selecting Game mode gives you access to three additional settings: FPS (First Person Shooter), RPG (Role-Playing Game), and Voice. FPS makes soft sounds, such as footsteps, more perceptible, and focuses more on precisely locating enemies. RPG instead favors immersive audio and is naturally optimized for Final Fantasy XIV Online. Voice, as the name suggests, improves the dialogue and the rendering of the voices.
Available connections include Bluetooth 2.1 with SBC, an optical digital input, an HDMI 2.0 input and output with HDCP 2.2. The output supports ARC, the audio return channel. On the other hand, there is no mention of eARC, the advanced version that also allows you to transmit audio in a lossless format, such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
