OM Digital Solutions launches Tough TG-7 Rugged Underwater Camera

OM Digital Solutions has announced a new version of its best underwater video rugged camera, the OM SYSTEM Tough TG-7.

The core specifications of the Olympus TG-7 have remained consistent across the last few models. Featuring a 12-megapixel sensor larger than that found in most compact cameras, and an equivalent 25-100mm F2.0-4.9 lens renowned for its effectiveness in low-light and underwater settings, the Olympus TG-7 camera also boasts the capability to capture 4K/30p video utilizing the full sensor width.

What sets the Olympus camera TG-7 apart is its unparalleled robustness within its class, complemented by an extensive range of optional accessories. It is impervious to water up to depths of 15 meters, resilient to drops from heights of 2.1 meters, resistant to freezing temperatures down to -10°C, can endure shocks of up to 100 kilograms, and is dustproof to IP6X standards.

So, what’s new in this version? Key enhancements include a more ergonomically designed grip, the inclusion of a USB-C port (primarily for charging, not for power supply), a 3-inch TFT display boasting improved color accuracy, support for vertical video capture, time-lapse functionality, and compatibility with a weather-resistant wireless remote control, known as the RM-WR1.

Additionally, the OM SYSTEM Tough TG-7 introduces a novel Construction scene mode capable of automatically eliminating dust from photos, brightening darkened images, capturing stitched panoramas, and photographing blueprints.

The OM SYSTEM Tough TG-7 is available for pre-order through various platforms, including Amazon.com, Bhphotovideo.com, Adorama.com, and Amazon.co.uk. It is slated for release in late September 2023, with a suggested retail price of $549.99—$100 more than the TG-6’s initial retail price at the time of its launch. Customers can choose between the Red or Black color options.
