First lens from OM System: M.Zuiko Digital ED 20mm f1.4 Pro

OM Digital Solutions presents its first lens, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 20mm F1.4 Pro, under the new brand name OM System, which replaces the well-known “Olympus” brand. The new wide angle lens of the Micro Four Thirds family is supposed to stand out with a delicate bokeh in addition to its universal application possibilities and the high light intensity of the M.Zuiko Pro series.

The compact and lightweight 40 mm fixed focal length corresponding to the small picture is particularly predestined for the subject areas of landscape, reportage, and portrait. The new Olympus lens consists of 11 elements in 10 groups including Super ED, ED, and Super HR as well as aspherical lenses to reduce the physically caused optical errors to a minimum. Thanks to the Zero coating and the optimal suppression of internal reflections in the lens barrel, ghost images and reflections in backlit images are optimally prevented.

The powerful M.Zuiko Digital ED 20mm F1.4 Pro is compact and light at only 247 grams. Together with the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III, it weighs around 661 grams. The wide angle lens is splash-proof (IPX1 standard) as well as dust and frost-proof down to -10° C. In combination with a suitably robust camera housing, it works reliably even in rough areas. The fluorine coating on the front lens lets water droplets roll off and allows easy cleaning.

The close-up limit of 25 cm and a maximum image magnification of 0.22x (corresponding to a small picture) ensure amazing close-ups. The effective angle of view of 57° is slightly wider than that of standard lenses and ensures natural perspectives.
