After Ricoh and Olympus, Nikon also renews its rugged camera lineup – new Coolpix W300 which replaces the AW130 was launched in 2015 and which incorporates many features.
The main changes in the design, slightly revised to ensure better grip when shooting, and the maximum resolution supported that now comes up to 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) at 30fps. The Nikon W300 is obviously a waterproof camera up to 30 meters deep, resistant to low temperatures, falls from a maximum height of 2.4 meters, dust and sand resistance thanks to IP68 and MIL-STD 820F certifications. Implements, of course, a removable battery, for connectivity, Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS, and a SnapBridge Bluetooth app that easily connects with your smartphone.
Among other interesting features are the ability to take pictures even while recording a movie in 4K, which difficult to find in other cameras of the same category. The Coolpix W300 is also equipped with functions for recording not only time-lapse movies, but also Superlapse movies. Superlapse movies are recorded and saved in fast motion, enabling recording of unique movies with which changes in the subject that happen over time are compressed into minutes or even seconds.
Nikon Coolpix W300 rugged camera is also equipped with the new Active Guide feature that helps to enrich the user’s outdoor life. Verified location data can also be added to photos and movies after they are recorded. The Nikon W300 price is set to $386.95 and it can be pre-ordered through BHphoto store in Black, Orange, and Yellow color options.
