After seven years, Leica has introduced the much-anticipated successor to its Sofort camera, unveiling the Sofort 2. This new iteration leaves no stone unturned, incorporating advanced technology and sleek design.

Unlike its predecessor, the Sofort 2 captures digital images, allowing users the freedom to decide which photos they want to print after capturing them.

The Leica Sofort 2 seamlessly marries a clean, contemporary design with an integrated instant photo printer, capable of producing prints measuring 8.6 x 5.4 centimeters, with an image area of 6.2 x 4.6 centimeters.

Since the camera captures digital images, users have the flexibility to choose which shots they wish to print post-capture. Additionally, through the Leica Photos app, users can print images directly from their smartphones.

In terms of both hardware and operation, the Sofort 2 closely resembles the Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo, much like the original Leica Sofort. Essentially, the new model appears to be a Fuji camera with a Leica design, albeit with some adjustments and the iconic Leica logo, commanding a higher price tag.

Equipped with a 4.9 MP sensor in 1/5 inch format and a 28 mm (35mm equivalent) f/2.0 lens, the camera allows users to apply various filters before printing, including options like black and white or sepia tones.

The device includes internal memory to store up to 45 photos, along with a microSD card reader for expanded storage. Furthermore, digital images can be wirelessly transferred to a smartphone using the Leica Photos app.
