Lenovo has decided to give the Legion Pro 5i a 9th generation refresh, a year after the introduction of its 8th generation predecessor. Much like the Legion Pro 7i Gen 9, the new Legion Pro 5i G9 is something of a minor refresh compared to last year’s model. For example, Lenovo continues to offer the new gaming Legion Pro 5i with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 (140W) card, the same as the Gen 8 model.

Additionally, an 80Wh battery is still available, as is 300W wired charging via Lenovo’s Slim adapter. However, the Gen 9 model upgrades the Legion Pro 5i series to Intel’s Raptor Lake Refresh architecture, with a choice between the Core i5-13500HX, Core i7-13700HX, and Core i9-13900HX in the Gen 9 model. last year. The Core i9-14900HX replaces them and also equips the Legion Pro 7i.

According to Lenovo’s press release, the Legion Pro 5i Gen 9 relies on an 80Wh battery that supports 300W or 140W wired charging through one of its USB ports. Despite a 19% smaller battery than the Legion Pro 7i G9, the Pro 5i G9 retains the same premium display. The latter uses a 16-inch IPS panel that displays 2,560 x 1,600 pixels (WQXGA) in a 16:10 aspect ratio with a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a response time of 3 ms (GtG). Lenovo claims the display is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified with 500 nits peak brightness and full sRGB color coverage.
