At least since the launch of the first Microsoft Surface Pro, Windows tablets with a detachable keyboard have been extremely popular with many customers. With the Elite x2 G8, HP now offers another exciting Multi Touch alternative with Intel Tiger Lake and a bright 3: 2 display.
At the center of the HP Elite x2 G8 is a 13-inch display in 3: 2 format, which, depending on the model, has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,280 pixels or even 3,000 x 2,000 pixels. In addition to two 400 nits bright options, HP also offers a 1,000 nits bright SureView display that protects the privacy of the user by making the display invisible from the side. A cover made of Gorilla Glass 5 protects the display from scratches, the compatible HP Rechargeable Active Pen G3 is sold separately.
The 2-in-1 laptop can either be used as an 8.8 millimeter thin, 1.17 kilogram Windows tablet or, in combination with the keyboard and the integrated stand, as a regular notebook. Intel Tiger Lake SoCs with optional support for vPro, provide the necessary performance. There is also 8 GB to 16 GB LPDDR4x RAM and an M.2 NVMe SSD. The 47 Wh battery can be charged to 50 percent in half an hour.
In addition to Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5, the Elite x2 G8 is also optionally available with an LTE modem. HP installs two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an additional USB-C port, and a headphone jack. HP also relies on loudspeakers from Bang & Olufsen in the latest convertible, which should achieve a volume of 74 dB.
