This new Descent G1 Solar Ocean Edition by Garmin merges dive computer training functionalities with smart features, catering to both diving needs and above-water activities. Display-wise, it shares a striking resemblance to the Instinct smartwatches.

Sporting a monochrome 176 x 176-pixel display, the Descent G1 features a split-screen layout. Its recycled plastic bezel and case are compatible with 22-millimeter-wide Quickfit straps, coming with an inclusive silicone band.

The monochrome MIP panel contributes to the watch’s extended battery life, promising up to 21 days in smartwatch mode. When exposed to sunlight intermittently, the integrated solar cell extends this life to around 4 months. No interim charging is necessary in energy-saving mode, while during diving sessions, the battery sustains for up to 25 hours.

Designed as a versatile dive training watch, the Solar Ocean Edition caters to various diving types, including technical and free diving, and is water-resistant up to 10 ATM, while MIL-STD-810 assures shock resistance.

Above water, its GNSS module supports multiple positioning systems, and paired with an inReach satellite communication device, it can receive messages even beyond mobile network coverage.
