Apple iPad Pro 2018 With A12X Bionic SoC, Face ID, and USB-C Announced

Along with the new MacBook Air 2018 edition, Apple has also announced two new variants of the iPad Pro 2018 during the New York launch event. The new iPad Pro comes in two display sizes: 11-inch and 12.9-inch Liquid Retina True Tone displays, have an all-screen design, and refresh rate up to 120Hz and integrates Face ID replacing the home button and Touch ID. It has a sleek design, thinner bezels, no home button, Face ID support with Animoji/ Memoji, and fast Apple A12X Bionic chip.

New Apple iPad Pro 2018 11-inch and 12.9-inch variants will be sold in 64GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. The 11-inch version starts at $799, while the 12.9-inch model gets a starting price of $999. The iPad Pro is already up for pre-orders in the US starting today with availability from November 7th, 2018. It comes in Silver and Space Gray color options.

New iPad Pro 2018 features 11-inch (2388 x 1668 pixels) and 12.9-inch (2732 x 2048pixels) LCD ProMotion Liquid Retina Displays with rounded corners using the pixel masking technology, P3 Color Gamut, 600 nits brightness, and 264PPI. Both are powered by the Apple A12X Bionic 7nm processors with an 8-core CPU and a 7-core GPU, the latter offers 2x the graphics performance compared to last year’s Apple A11X. It comes in 64GB/256GB/512GB/1TB of inbuilt storage.

Apple has replaced the Lightning connect with USB-C connector that offers power for charging, supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 for high-bandwidth data transfers up to twice the speed to and from cameras and musical instruments and drives external displays up to 5K. You can also use the USB-C on the iPad Pro to charge an iPhone. It promises up to 10-hour battery life. For connectivity, it includes 4G LTE (optional), WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz); HT80 with MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB-C.

There is also Face ID is enabled by the TrueDepth camera, which brings support for Animoji and Memoji, and it works in both portrait and landscape mode. New iPad Pro 2018 models come with support for iPhone X-like gesture navigation, due to the departure of the home button. It has a 12-megapixel rear camera with improved True Tone LED flash and support for 4K video recording at 60fps. It offers up to 10-hour battery life and comes with a bundled 18W power adapter. It has a four-speaker setup that houses two woofers and two tweeters offering wider stereo sound.

The iPad Pro 2018 also supports new Smart Keyboard Folio that attaches magnetically to the back with a durable, lightweight cover that protects both the front and back, has a full-size keyboard and lets you adjust it in two viewing angles. New second-generation Apple Pencil comes with a brand new design and now attaches magnetically to the new iPad Pro. It automatically starts charging wirelessly when connected.
