Alienware x16 Gaming Laptop with up to Core i9-13900HK, and RTX 4090 16GB

Dell is expanding its Alienware laptop series with the brand-new Alienware x16 R1 1600p 240Hz laptop. The 240 Hz gaming laptop relies on a new “Legend 3” design including a trackpad with Alienware RGB lighting, six speakers, and massive performance thanks to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000.

Dell Alienware x16 specs

Dell Alienware x16 1600p 240Hz laptop is 18.6 millimeters thin, weighs 2.72 kilograms, and sits almost exactly between the Alienware x15 R2 and the x17 R2, both of which are replaced by the x16. The case is made entirely of metal, and the design has been revised.

At first glance, the Alienware latest model is reminiscent of the x15 R2, but the new “Lunar Silver” finish is achieved through special processing of the aluminum, the black edges are history, and the ventilation openings above the keyboard look much more aggressive than before. The trackpad is not only 15 percent larger than on the x17 R2 but it is also illuminated, just like the keyboard, which can optionally be equipped with CherryMX Ultra Low Profile switches.

Six loudspeakers including Dolby Atmos are also part of the standard equipment, as is the 1080p webcam with support for Windows login via face recognition. The 16-inch 16:10 display offers a standard resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels with a frame rate of 165 Hz, Alienware laptop 240Hz QHD panel and a 480 Hz 1,080p panel are available at extra cost.

Alienware uses Intel Raptor Lake-H processors, up to the Core i9-13900HK, as well as one of five Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 graphics chips, although GPUs are not yet confirmed. There is also up to 32 GB of LPDDR5-6,000 RAM and up to 4 TB of SSD storage via two M.2 slots. The device has two Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C), one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 2.1, Mini-DisplayPort 1.4, and a microSD card reader.

All Alienware x16 configurations use Element 31 gallium-silicone thermal interface material for the CPU and GPU. Dell said the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090-based configurations use vapor chamber cooling. A 12-stage VRM provides consistent power to keep the GPU performing at its peak during long periods of gaming.
