Yeelight, a subsidiary brand of Xiaomi, very active in the smart home accessories, recently introduced its first voice assistant called Yeelight Voice Assistant.
Yeelight Voice Assistant, as the name suggests, is an intelligent speaker with a voice assistant, very similar in size and shape of the Amazon Echo Dot. In fact, this Yeelight smart speaker has equipped with four buttons at the top: a start button, one dedicated to turning the microphone on and off and the last two reserved for volume up/down, just like on Echo Dot.
An additional button at the middle can also be used to put the speaker in silent mode. On board, there should be Microsoft’s voice assistant, Cortana, since Xiaomi has partnered with Microsoft during the past year.
The hardware equipment continues with six noise-canceling microphones (AEC) ready to pick up the user’s commands, a single 2-Watt loudspeaker and a very advanced voice wake-up algorithm, able to turn the device on within a range of 5 meters.
Xiaomi Yeelight Voice Assistant supports the 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and can also be used to manage other Xiaomi smart products belonging to the Yeelight brand, such as smart LED lamps, table lamps, bedside lamps, ceiling lights, etc.
As of now, the product is listed on the company’s crowdsourcing platform at a price of CNY 199 – approximately $30. The company plans to ship the first units starting from January 31st, 2018 in China.
