Xiaomi Redmi 5A has been officially launched in China. It is the successor of the Redmi 4A was launched back in November 2016 in China. This is a budget smartphone comes with Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 out of the box from the Xiaomi being launched today. Xiaomi Redmi 5A price in China is CNY 599 – approximately $90 and it will go on sale from in China starting from today in Platinum Silver, Champagne Gold, and Rose Gold color options.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A features a 5.0-inch IPS display with HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution that is rated a pixel density of 296ppi, 1000: 1 contrast ratio, and 72% (typ) / 68% (min) color gamut. It has a metal-like matte texture which the company claims is much lighter than the metal. The company is also highlighting the lightweight body of the Redmi 5A with 137 grams. The device also highlighted by rounded corners for comfortable grip similar to previous Redmi smartphones.
The Redmi 5A is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor which supported by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset paired with 500MHz Adreno 308 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It packs a 16GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via microSD card up to 128GB.
On the camera front, the Redmi 5A flaunts a 13-megapixel primary autofocus camera with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. For selfie, there is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and wide-angle lens to capture better self-portraits and quality video calling. The device doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor, similar to the predecessor.
The handset runs on Android 7.1 Nougat -based on MIUI 9 out of the box. It packs a 3000mAh battery and supports hybrid SIM slot with dual standby. For connectivity includes 4G VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.1, micro USB 2.0 and 3.5 mm audio jack options.
